Dance has been hectic these past few days to the extent that I end only around 1030pm once. Considering after packing up and everything, if my mum didn't fetch me home, I would only eat dinner at midnight. Then yesterday we ended at around 915pm. Therefore, decided that we should set at least a latest time, hence today we ended at 815pm and the latest we can go is till 845-9pm.

On my way back home, I was watching this 'documentary' on TV Mobile called Life Story. It chronicled the life of a leper and it made me wonder about what leprosy is about. You hear many things about it, but do you really know what it is and the misconceptions about it?

This is the picture of a leper.

Things to know about leprosy:

1. Leprosy is NOT confirmed to be passed on through normal contact. However, it is said to be passed through skin or through nasal mucosa, yet there is still no scientific proof on how the bacteria where leprosy is contracted from, gets to the surface area of the skin.

2. Despite numerous research, the results on how leprosy is contracted vary of great degrees when held in different leper colonies in various countries. It is not HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS.

3. Leprosy DOES NOT bring about the decaying of skin. However, the decaying of skin happens when lepers are not aware of rotting skin for they can't feel it, and hence the neglect leads to the decaying of skin.

4. ALSO, it does not cause body parts to fall off.

5. Only few leper colonies remain in the world, most prominently Vietnam and India.

6. Leprosy is NOT Tzaraath, a malady described in Hebrew scriptures and led to the stigmas placed upon lepers in social communities

7. Ways to treat and control leprosy has been invented therefore it is NOT incurable
